Desert town street
Nesrat, Draa Valley, Province of Ouarzazate

You are looking down a covered street in a desert town, or ksar, in the Draa Valley in southern Morocco. The "covering" is actually the roofs of houses; an occasional shaft of light provides some light into the street, but mostly it is quite gloomy, even dark, in the street. The urban form provides a high degree of protection from the harsh summer sun and represents a strong adaptation to the rigors of the desert environment.
