Northern California - Mount Shasta

Dunsmuir was built to serve the railroad, just at the base of the big grade at the foot of Mount Shasta. Railroads are less important now, and require less manpower, so Dunsmuir is finding a new identity in travel services and tourism. Its main street, Dunsmuir Avenue, is a well preserved classic of an early 20th century small town.
