Northern California - The Sacramento River
			The Sacramento is California's great river. It was once plied by steamboats, and now supplies water from the northern mountains to the California Aqueduct, which sends it almost to the Mexican border. Long stretches have been altered by levees and riprap, but some areas still have the original riparian forests of tall oaks and cottonwoods.
